Pride Month will be coming to an end in a couple of days and I thought I would share a picture I shot when I was in the historic district in Ellicott City on May 31. They had rainbow flags like this one posted throughout Main Street.

Ellicott City had its own Pride Festival but I wasn’t able to go to that one this year. I’m amazed as to how mainstream the acceptance of LGBTQ people have become in this country. I remember the days when my Unitarian Universalist church was one of the few religions that accepted LGBTQ people. (That was back in the 1980s when there was a backlash against gay rights due to both the rise of the right-wing Reagan Administration and the HIV/AIDS pandemic.) I’m glad that LGBTQ people are more accepted now than they were back then.
